#6 – THE MOOMBA PARADE
In 1990 ‘Magic Week’ was bringing national attention to Melbourne as Australia’s home of magic. As well as suspended straitjacket escapes in Bourke St, trunk escapes in the Yarra river, and driving cars blindfolded, Tim came up with the idea to get all the magic groups in Melbourne united to feature in the televised Moomba Parade.
The IBM, ASM and The Magic Circle of Victoria joined forces to march down Swanston Street and promote the art.
If you look carefully, you may be able to spot some famous faces of the day: Lyndsay Reitschel, Enzo Ficco, Kristina, Terry McSweeney, Michael Boyd, Larry Isaac, Cath Jamison, Red the Clown, Christof!… was that Mat Unwin?
