#1 – BAYSWATER BULK

Absolutely, without a doubt, the strangest TV appearance Tim’s ever done.

Back in who knows when.. the white-goods retail chain Bayswater Bulk decided it would be a great idea to create a fun mascot to help sell their products. Their advertising agency came up with the idea of a giant Ace of Hearts that had a real passion for electrical appliances.

Not only would he appear in their commercials, but he would make in store appearances performing magic! So they needed a real magician – and they contacted Tim.

The initial costume needed to be modified a little as it had the arms coming out of the sides – which meant Tim couldn’t actually touch his hands together let alone perform magic.

After a few modifications, the giant foam “mattress” was ready to go and Tim performed a test show for a group of executives at a retreat. They enjoyed the magic but it was possibly the weirdest and most difficult performance Tim has ever given.

Then it was into the studio to record the first commercial. It’s here that saner heads prevailed and no second commercial or live appearances were ever scheduled.

Did Tim learn his lesson? Not quite. He also performed very briefly as ‘The Kodak Wizard’ and ‘Ronald McDonald’ before never again inserting himself into a corporate costume.
